While working with congregations, a sense of family often emerges, as windows are often the final crowning focal point of a worship environment. Imagery is often dictated by the traditional symbols of the religious denomination. The architectural style of the building itself often suggests its own style and color opportunities, especially if the building has other existing art glass. The process is educational, usually evolving in concert with a committee. After the initial visit, a design fee is required so that the many hours of consultation, drawing preparation, fabrication time frames, and installation details are clear. Fundraising for stained glass is often part of a larger capital campaign, though individual donors often come forward at the outset of the project specifically for the glass. Some panels include lettering to commemorate specific family names, events, or anniversaries of the church or temple.
